The Trials and Tribulations of Being an Over the Hill Mom

Comic Moma III

Middle-aged people like young cartoons of themselves.

Hi there!  I’m Debbie Wygal.  I’m a retired broadcast journalist who use to chase down stories. Now I’m a stay-at-home mom.  Let’s talk anything from diapers to teens, and hot flashes.  I’ve seen it all.

If I seem worn out,  I have a right to be.  I’ve never been able to complete a sentence without being interrupted.  Like a plant that never stops blooming, I’ve been a perennial mother of a child for my entire adult life, aiming for the Guinness World Record.  I decided to have my first child in my 20s, my second in my 30s, and my last in my 40s.

I’ve  joined the growing ranks of women having children at a later age. So, I’m working as a broadcast journalist until I choose to stay home and raise three children, two hamsters, and a fish.

Older and wiser, I hope to share some laughter, and some tears, and the wisdom that comes from all the trials and tribulations of being an over the hill mom.

  1. Good day! This post couldn’t be written any better!
Reading through this post reminds me of my good old room mate!

He always kept chatting about this. I will forward this write-up to him.
Pretty sure he will have a good read. Thanks for sharing!

    • Thank you Althea! This is so much fun. I love your blog too – Lilias and Love. With your new baby clothing line you show moms how to have the best-dressed girls and boys. I wouldn’t expect anything less from a Project Runway All Star. Love, Debbie

  3. Debbie, old friend and colleague, I ‘ve never been a biological mom but am a “mom” to many. I’ll be your second one if need be with all that FUN stuff going on for you :-)! Congrats — you are DOING IT! Love, Paula

    • Paula, I loved our radio days together and missed you so much when you moved to Atlanta to work for CNN. I’m so glad we are still friends and that you encouraged me to share my zany life in a blog. Love, Debbie
